The actual number is closer to 42%, according to updated estimates from the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity, which describes itself as a nonpartisan think tank. The estimate also includes assisted living facilities as well as nursing homes.
In mid-March a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report attributed 80% of COVID-19 related fatalities to adults over 65, but not all of them were residents of care facilities. The CDC provides weekly updates of deaths by age.
