Does the president of a teachers' union live in a lavish Los Angeles mansion?

A claim that appeared on social media showed a photo of what at one time may have been the most expensive residential property listing in the country. Its caption said the mansion belonged to the president of the teachers' union (though not which one), adding, "Please have your children bring their own supplies, as the city cannot afford them."

The property, at 924 Bel Air Road in Los Angeles, actually sold for $94 million on October 24, 2019, to an unknown French Moroccan buyer, according to a source for The Hollywood Reporter.

The president of one of the largest U.S. unions, the 1.7 million-member American Federation of Teachers, was paid just less than $418,000 in the 2020 school year. The U.S. Department of Labor's Online Public Disclosure Room lists the salaries of presidents of teachers' unions.
