Have federal unemployment insurance rules changed to require job searches starting on June 1, 2021?

Although more than half of the country's states have reinstated their job search requirements, a job search is not a national requirement to receive unemployment insurance benefits.

A post listing several benefits changes including applying for five jobs a week to qualify for benefits did not specific any state or location, leaving the implication that the changes applied nationally. But federal guidelines specify that benefits are administered by states, which can each have different rules. 

The post featured a picture of a graphic attributed to WFTV, an ABC News affiliate in central Florida, and Florida is one of the states that will reinstate its job search requirements.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced on May 12, 2021, that the requirement would be reinstated on June 1, 2021.

Dane Eagle, secretary of the Florida DEO, posted a tweet verifying the change.
