Florida's Department of Health has increased the amount of COVID-19 data released to the public. In response to calls from interest groups and news organizations, it now lists the names of affected nursing homes and long-term care facilities where residents have been exposed to the virus.
But some data has not been disclosed. Data about how many tests are being conducted and by whom is incomplete. The state health department does not clarify how many coronavirus patients are being tested for the virus for the first time and how many are being retested after a previous positive test.
On May 6 the Florida Department of Law Enforcement released a spreadsheet tracking coronavirus deaths examined by medical examiners. The sheet included some case-specific medical details but left other details redacted.
