In April 2020, four tigers and three lions at New York City's Bronx Zoo tested positive for coronavirus, according to a statement from the Wildlife Conversation Society. The cases were confirmed and tracked by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
On April 22, the society reported that all of the afflicted wild cats were on track to recover. It noted there is no evidence that any person has been infected with COVID-19 in the U.S. by animals, including by pet dogs or cats.
