In June several organizations promoting voter registration have said that they are seeing significant increases in volunteering, contributions and new voter registrations. Voto Latino told CNBC it would more than double its original June goal for registering young Latinos.
The protests also have been followed by a pickup in voter turnout that had been trending lower amid continuing concerns over the coronavirus and a decline in some states in the numbers of polling places. On June 9 Georgia Democrats beat a turnout record set in the 2008 faceoff between Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Kentucky on June 23 marked a record, according to initial estimates. Participation in Colorado's June 30 primary broke previous records.
