President Trump in December signed legislation guaranteeing $255 million in annual funding for historically Black and other minority-serving colleges, universities, and institutions. The bill was the "number one priority" for historically Black institutions, according to the United Negro College Fund.
The UNCF says the Trump Administration has been generally supportive of the sector. Other direct government support for the schools include $325 million in annual grants under the "Strengthening HBCU" program, up from $245 million in 2017, Inside Higher Ed reports.
