Is Wyoming more valuable in terms of economic output than the District of Columbia?

In 2019, the District of Columbia generated $126 billion in economic output, compared with $39 billion from Wyoming.
While economic output is only one way to compare very different geographic entities, opponents of statehood for D.C. recently cited their differing economic bases. Wyoming is only slightly smaller than D.C. in population, but one Senator argued its economic base was more well-rounded.
The private sector in Wyoming employs 224,000 people, compared with 172,000 in D.C. In Wyoming the natural-resource sector dominates, employing almost 21,000 residents. In the nation's capital, government and government enterprises employ ten times that number.
